One of the hottest color trends in hairstyle right now is called Ombré, named after the French word that means "shadow" or "shade". It is probably because it is a very easy way to go low maintenance without sacrificing style.  Going easy and being stylish are not two things that usually go hand-in-hand, so a little exception here feels great.

Ombré, unlike trends that come and go, is set to be timeless. Ombré highlights provide you with a lot of contrast, which makes is beautiful and provides movement and dimension. Now, there are several ombré styles out there and they are all HOT!  If you are not sure how to get it done, we have some easy steps for you.

Step 1:  Prelighten your hair from the mid-shaft to ends and then move to the roots to make sure the product is soaked in entirely by the hair. You can achieve this with a 30-volume developer to achieve a Level 6/7.

Step 2:  Shampoo and dry with a towel.

Step 3: Apply the hair dye.  It usually is a medium brown, intense violet, or red-violet. This will depend on the client and the skin tone.  Follow instructions and process accordingly.

Step 4:  Shampoo and blow dry.

Step 5:  Section the hair in quadrants.  Start weaving 1/2-inch sections starting in the back.  If you want to have a pretty dramatic look, go for thicker weaves.

Step 6: Tease the hair about 5 times from mid-shaft to root - the more the better.

Step 7:  Apply another lightener but with a 20-volume developer on the ends.  Use the brush to give downward strokes to feather the color.

Step 8:  Take 1/2-inch diagonal forward sections, tease and apply lightener just like you did in steps 4 through 7.

Step 9: Lift the Ombré highlights until desired height is achieved.
